Welcome back Robert and I'm glad to hear of your recovery from those two health issues. This is looking fantastic, as expected! Keep it coming!

Wow, I didn't realize 20 days have gone by since the last update. Then I looked at my workbench calendar and it makes sense...here's all that's been done. First, I spent one day applying black primer to the entire build. Then two full days applying and touching up a coat of desert sand. This coat is meant to replicate a field applied coat over the base German gray paint the gun would have likely left the factory with. Here's a couple of shots: The next step took some time. About 3 days were spent applying a medium brown pin wash from MIG to start bringing out the details. With all the nooks and crannies in this build, this took a lot of time. Following the wash, I applied subtle light chips and scuffs to the entire model - first using the sponge technique, then using a very fine brush to blend and refine the application. Next, I applied the darker, heavier chips that represent removal of paint to either the gray undercoat or the base metal. All the while, I would pause occasionally to paint some details like the bare steel pry bars, the spikes for the legs, black turning wheels, etc. All told, I think this whole process took about another 8 days. Here's a quick shot of two sets of wheels with the one on the left being after the light chips are applied and the one on the right after the darker chips are done: So, now I think I'm ready to start weathering the gun. There is some more detail painting to do as well as adding one or two simple markings. However, I think I'm starting to see the finish line off in the distance. My final step yesterday was to give the whole model a top coat of clear acrylic lacquer in preparation for the weathering steps. Here are a couple close-up shots showing all the techniques used thus far and then one overall shot of the assembled gun, carriages, and unattached wheels: Until next time...
