Having just come off a multi-month project that lasted way too long, I elected for this kit and what I described as hoping would be a “quick, care-free, simple build” and I think it filled it's role quite admirably. Despite hitting a few road blocks, overall the model was a pleasure to put together in just 5 weeks. It was a project where I could just let myself go and not worry about quality or accuracy.
The kit ended up being both better in some ways and far worse in others than I thought it would be when I started. However, I am quite pleased with the end result:
Since I had not weathered a model in nearly a year, I really wanted to use this as a test subject to ensure I hadn't forgotten how to weather a model and to refresh my memory...it definitely worked:
The only thing that didn't really work was my “homemade” cast texture on the turret. While it does indeed look rough, it's way out of scale and will need to be refined if I'm going to attempt it again:
