Or Achzarit, which I understand is Hebrew for the impolite slang word meaning something similar. One can only wonder if the crews gave it that name. Anyhooch, I was just digging through the stash the other day and found the Meng kit, less some parts I used on a T-62 build a while ago and thought: I wonder if the T-62 parts I didn't like would work. Turns out they did, so I decided to use this model to get my painting block done with. Easy kit, goes together quickly (no turret) and man it's big. Since I had it all assembled OOB (sorta, see pervious note about parts) and in paint in just a few hours, I jumped in and actually finished it. No progress shots, it happened too fast and I didn't want to jinx it. Finished: IMG_1478 by Russel Baer, on Flickr

It was so fast I didn't take any in-progress shots! I knew if I stopped to take pics I'd wuss out and go 90% of the way. I even put the antenna masts on: IMG_1665 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I haven't even tried to do any stowage, no reason to at this point, but if one of the AM companies happens to releas a "kit" for it, I could be tempted. While building the thing I kept thinking: this is BIG....... so I took a pic of it next to a T-55: IMG_1666 by Russel Baer, on Flickr It's big.

Wow! It is big! It is Amphibious, right? Very much the opposite.... that's all composite armor, makes the base T-55 look like a toy, doesn't it?

Great work brother sometimes pulling out the stops will get you fine results such as this
About thirty years ago I was in New York City for some reason I can't recall and found myself in the vicintity of the Intrepid museum. Of course, I had to have a look, and on the dock next to the ship they had some AFV's captured during the Gulf War. One of them was a T-72GM and the most striking thing about it was its size...it was small, much smaller than I'd envisioned. Don't know if this trait is shared with the rest of the T series MBT's but some of the kits I've built would suggest this is so
Regards, Mark

Mark, when compared to US vehicles, yes, Russian-built MBT's are smaller. I noticed this when I was building all my T-72's, T-80's and T-90's compared to me Abrams and even the Chieftains I built.

It's been said that quite a few former T-72 gunners had their right arms removed when the gun came back in recoil and looking at how small the turret was on that T-72 I'm willing to believe it.
Sorry for getting all gabbly on your thread Russ

Sorry for getting all gabbly on your thread Russ I could definitely see that possibility in such tight places...

They had a similar issue with the autoloader as well. It was constantly injuring tankers who failed to pay attention.
