I am taking a break from building shermies and decided to pull this kit from the closet. This is the Super Pershing kit from Hobby Boss which I bought probably 4 years ago. I have assembled most of the lower and upper hull as well as the turret and here it is at the moment. It actually has some details for the engine compartment which I have also started to assemble and paint. This should be done before mating the upper and lower hull. Generally the kit is well detailed although some parts need a bit of clean up while others need to be sanded to make them look dimensionally more to scale. There are some minor fit issues here and there but nothing that cannot be solved by a good glue and brute force. The torsion bars and suspension are actually workable which is good because it probably mimic the profile of the tank with weight of that long gun. Hope to get more progress this coming weekend. Thanks.

Painted and muddied up! I did not apply too much weathering though as the tank did not really have a very long service life (only a long gun ). I went for a two-tone camo which is not shown in the kit instructions. I also did not use the decals "2" and "A". The working suspension did its job as the tank's front dips due to the weight of that long 90mm gun. The kit has it own problems but I enjoyed working on it.

It's a good kit, good job on it too. You're correct in not adding the two markings you mentioned if you're doing the tank as "in service", they were applied in the scrap yard at the end of the war. The two tone camo is good as well, probably applied very late in the tank's life. I did one a while ago, from a pic taken at a depot, with the added armor incomplete, kind of a "work in progress" scene, with a guy holding a comically oversize sledge hammer standing in front of it, just for laughs.

Rusty, I was lucky enough to photocopy a book by Hunnicut on the Pershing owned by a friend and I could not find those markings ("2" and "a") in the pictures except when the tank was already in some depot. As far as the 2-tone camo is concerned, there was a picture there (no wing armor installed) where it looks as if the tank has it. I am not sure if it is just because my copy was in monochrome and those are shadows but I went for it as it makes it look meaner. Guys, Thanks for the comments.
