If you have not tried a stick and tissue model aircraft, ya gotta try at least one.  There is nothing more satisfying than spending weeks on one of these and seeing it fly....and fly well.  It can also be heartbreaking if you fail and I have done both.  First up is the Guillows Lancer kit.  It is my best flyer and has stayed airborne for just a tick over a minute.  I know what you're thinking... a minute.... so big deal!   Well, try your first one and good luck with a 15 second flight, if you even get that.  It's not as easy as it sounds.

Planes like this are what got me interested in Modeling, seeing them be lifted high into the air, by running and holding them on a long, thin line, after lighting the tail rudder, slow fuse. They could stay up, quite awhile.

Very cool, I have an old partially built Kielcraft glider in the loft, I bought it from a charity shop,started the build and got to a point where some of the balsa strips were missing so I boxed it up and put it away. At the time I couldn't be bothered to work out the equivalent size required in metric as all the sizes are imperial 😬😳

Go ahead and spend the $15 to $20 and get yourself a Guillows Lancer or Javelin kit.  Follow the instructions EXACTLY and take your time.  It is not terrifying but is somewhat amazing when you see it fly.  The kit tissue is ok but you can do better.  Forget the kit rubber and find yourself some fresh aftermarket rubber and go flying!!   Believe me, if I can do it, YOU can do it.  Here is my balsa and rocket table just across from my plastic model building desk.  These are set up in an extra bedroom and I go back and forth which keeps me from losing my mind.  I know that not many have a stash of 1/35 military kits, 1/24-1/25 kits, balsa kits, rocket kits, resin parts, photo-etch goodies and who knows what else but what is an old Geezer supposed to do?   I'm gonna build something until my last twitching finger movement leaves a print on my last build.

Buddho, like I told these guys a year ago, Just get one and DO IT! You don't need two hundred forty eleven dollars worth of aftermarket smack to have fun and watch it fly. Some elmers, some pins and some time and you are flying. My best looking ones fly like a rock, the crappy looking ones fly like a eagle. Go figure?

Just do it!!!
