This kit is based off the semi assembled kit Tamiya offers. Its very hard to find and as of a few months ago Tamiya discontinued making it. After spending the last week and a half building it I can see why. The best word to describe this kit is intense. Its about as close to the real Enzo its unreal. There are a few aftermarket parts for the kit and the ones I got are based on the HRE Enzo seen here: gtspirit.com/2012/08/07/ferrari-enzo-on-hre-wheels/. I was able to locate the resin HRE wheels at Best Balsa in Belgium. In addition to the wheels I got the shock kit from Turner Models (this kit replaces the plastic shocks provided by Tamiya), the Scale Motorsports photoetch kit and custom paint from Gravity called Ferrari Nero Stellato. The paint has a beautiful gold pearl in it that looks amazing in the sun. As you can see I'm still not done but I have about 3 days to wait until I can color sand the paint. The kit overall was excellent but very intense to build especially when you add the photo etch and metal parts. The paint job with the racing strip was an idea I came up with after looking at tons of pics of other Enzo's.
I hope you guys like it.
This is the Turner Models kit. They have a Brake kit too but I didn't see anything different than what Scale Motorsports had in the photoetch kit.
This is the ONLY time I have ever left factory chrome on the exhaust. The way Tamiya replicated the wrinkled aluminum was too perfect to mess with.
The metal parts were amazing but of my was there a ton of bolts, nuts, screws and brackets. Half the time is spent searching for each one.
Scale Motorsports brakes. I can't stand using photoetch parts but I read so many good things about their kit I broke down and got it and I'm sure glad I did. I have never used PE this good. Everything fit perfectly.
The beautiful exhaust is parts from the Scale Motorsports kit. Amazing and really easy to do.
I bought a leather interior kit from Gravity when I bought the paint. It comes in three parts: Shade, light and base. I painted the tool bags in the frunk with the same kit.
The paint turned out way better than expected. Its so satisfying when you get this idea in your head about what you envision the build to look like when your done and in my case its a hit and miss endevor but this time it not only turned out the way I wanted too but way beyond. What do you guys think of the paint? Can you see the gold in it.
A last minuit decision had me ripping off the engine cover, removing all the carbon fibre decals and continuing the stripe through the engine bay.
Here is the other example using the Gravity leather paint kit. Its kinda tricky getting the shade and light to blend with the base but some practice and patience went a long way.
The HRE wheels in Alclad 2 Pale Gold. If you have never heard of HRE wheels they are a high end wheel company that in my opinion the best wheels on the planet. Also the most expensive.
Everything else is pretty much done. Like I said I'm just waiting for clear to dry so I'm off on the next project.
I hope you guys like it.
