Here I am!! Just started moving stuff into the new domicile. Hopefully, the Hobby Shack won't be too much longer. I have been doing a lot of pondering on the MOM situation. When I get my home computer back up and running, I'll put the old thinking hat on, and come up with something. Meanwhile.... GREAT entries, guys!

I have to admit, there are several EXCELLENT entries this month (as usual). However, this is the first time I can recall where I am basing my vote NOT on what I honestly think is the BEST model, but on the "best model as presented".
Online model competitions are very problematic with the biggest issue being exactly HOW the models are depicted online.
This was the first month (in all the time since this contest began) where I said, " Wait a minute!" "That's NOT how I remember THAT model."
So, I went back and looked at the "Build Thread" for the model. Sure enough, the entry looked MUCH BETTER there.
Then I asked myself, "Why does the photo for this entry look so bad?". And, I went back and looked at the Entry Thread for the month. This is where I discovered that APPARENTLY the FIRST PHOTO submitted for the Entry Thread is AUTOMATICALLY used as the ONLY photo for the actual voting thread.
Don't get me wrong!!!
Since I NEVER enter these competitions, I have NO DOG IN THE FIGHT!
However, am I the only one to notice this practice? Do people entering the monthly contests understand that the FIRST PICTURE they use (out of three) in the entry thread will be the ONE USED in the contest thread?
Regardless of the answer, I'm basing my vote on the individual KNOWING that the first photo will be used and judging my vote based on that fact.
Anyway, I was just incredibly stunned by the poor photo used for one of the entries this month and thought, as a NON-PARTICIPANT, I should voice my opinion.

Robert I agree with most of what you said, as for which picture if anyone ever wanted a different picture up for their build all they have to do is ask... we can change out a picture in a moment no problem to make that person happy... I wasn't sure on two of them this month, AG and Bruce so asked them both to pm me with the one they wanted on it. I always ask if I am unsure or think a different one is better. Most people by nature put their best picture first to capture attention... I do. Bucky has been known to pick a different one then the first on occasion as he has done that with a few of mine over the years when he sets up the thread to vote. Anytime someone is unhappy with our choice we have always been open to making the change for what they want posted. I have changed photos before for a few members and they were fine with that. Thanks for the input and you really should enter sometime, your builds are fantastic!

Joe, I completely understand the approach being taken and have absolutely no problem with it.
The only intent with my post was to highlight the process as I understand it...nothing more.
The thing was, with this month, one of the entries had NONE of the three "Entry" photos that would, IMO, be appropriate for a single, judging photo. Just my opinion.
Again, as I have no dog in the hunt, it's no biggie to me...just highlighting the observation.
