Joe, I still believe in the 1 person, 1 vote, however, I also believe in apples and oranges. A Diorama build involves way more time, materials and cost to build and will ultimately out-atvantge a single model, usually. It would be more fare to have categories, but I also know that this is way more complicated to run than most of us realize.

I would agree on cost and time involved and you would think it would out advantage the single model but as I personally know that isn't what the people here seem to look at... I have entered diorama's in MOM including that big Russian Aerosan dio, both my Huey Choppers and Bell Chopper dios and my Rat Patrol diorama and lost big time!!! LOL!!! The only Diorama that won for me was my WWI Ambulance. I get great comments in the build threads and that is really were it does matter to me. I'm not sure what they look at when they vote and it really doesn't much matter as long as they have fun and as many people as can get to vote! |

Those are all good points. I just want to make it fare for everyone. I have never gone to a model show and seen everything grouped into one class and they always had stipulations on even having a figure next to the model, unless it was in the Diorama Class.

It would be a nightmare to do that for MOM... a model show is not a model of the month contest on a small forum so that makes sense to have categories. If we did that here Jim would have his all alone for motorcycles, my Mustang would be by itself, your armor halftrack would be all by itself... and then we would have an actual runoff for the other 4 diorama's although one is a plane and one is just figures... hummmmm... I think we will continue to run them all together and take what may, haha!!!  |
