As most of you may have known Tamiya has re-released their Porsche 1/12 Big Scale Car series. I love these kits so I was plotting how I wanted to build them long before the last one released just last month. There are 3 kits in the Porsche series, the 934 Valiant, 934 Jagermeister and the 435 Martini. Although these are amazing kits right out of the box I wanted to do something unique to each one.
First up is the 934 Jagermeister. I just finished this kit last week so it wont be a comprehensive build blog like I will do with the other 2.
Some of the changes I made:
1. The Jager livery had to go. Its nice but just too much big logo all over the place for my taste so I went with a decal set from Reji Models: Porsche 934 Turbo RSR Group 5 Meznarie Racing Team sponsored by BP - 24 Hours Le Mans 1976. I also used a tire decal set from Tabu Design that matched the period.
2. Since all 3 use the same BBS gold wheels I changed them for this build. I found a really nice wheel set from Riverside Models. I couldn't be more impressed with the quality these guys produce.
3. Replaced the nasty tubing and wires the kit comes with
That's about it except the normal bolts, nuts and extra details I do to every kit.
I have the other 2 Porsches and will begin those builds next month when parts arrive. each one will be getting a super trans kits. The Valiant will be getting the ScaleLab 24 Detail-Up set and the Martini will get the Scale Motorsport super trans kit (These trans kits from Scale are limited edition)
