Bought this for myself for Christmas. Came today. It is a Revell "Student" airbrush. It's single action. It was made by Thayer & Chandler/Badger. I am pretty sure they are from Germany as part of the RoG line. T&C/Badger made airbrushes for a lot of different companies, with that companies name/logo.
This one intrigued me because of the part numbers. Some are T&C numbers and some are Badger part numbers. The shell looks to be from a Vega Model 600. It's not drilled so it must be a Badger body. The trigger (T604) and needle chuck (T616) are T&C numbers. The current handle number on Badgers website is T671 not the TC671V as listed. It's not "vented" so I have no idea what the V stands for. I have not been able to find info on part number R600NA. The part listed on the website is T612 which is a spring adjuster. Not needed on a single action.
The head assembly numbers go with the Badger 200 "Detail"AB part numbers and the Model 150 DA. I tried taking the air-cap off but it's on there really well. I think they assemble them with bees-wax on the threads and if they aren't disassembled occasionally the wax hardens and makes it about impossible to remove. I do not plan to use it. I will probably spray some 91% alcohol through it as it was sold as never used. That should loosen any residue so I can be certain. The alcohol won't require a cleaning.
The head assembly is for detail work. I'm still scratching my head as using a single action brush for detail work doesn't make sense to me. I'd think that you'd want the fluid control of a double action. Maybe that's part of the Student thing. Start simple even if it's not the best choice.
The needle is shown on the current Badger site as one for a model Detail 200 (single action).
One thing I have found now that it's in hand. Badger IDs their needles this way: Fine has no rings on the end . Medium needles have three rings and heavy needles 5. This one has two. I owned some T&Cs but no longer have any to see if their Model A used a similar system.
It came with no box, no cup and no hose. I got it at what I thought was fairly cheap. I'll probably make a small walnut box to keep it in. I should have a cup around here I can use to test it with and I know I have a hose for it.
I'm trying to keep my AB purchases to odd/unique and vintage. This one struck me as being odd because of the various parts involved. It seems to be part T&C and part Badger. (Badger did buy out T&C). Kind of a FrankenBrush. The disclaimer at the bottom of the sheet is because you need to replace the whole unit as not all Badger parts will fit in old T&C assemblies. These include the head and valve assemblies.
