This is another one I just upgraded the wheels. Started with this: Before Got these wheels from Greenlight Decided on this set After [
I got these 1/64 scale decals from ebay.
They are printed on clear paper, so they need a white underlay to make the colors visible. So I copy them on a piece of paper, then cut out the decal I want to use. I use the cut out as a template, and traced it on to white stripe decal. I cut out the white back ground and put it on the back window. it will get trimmed up when I lay the decal on top of it. I placed the Harley decal on top and trimmed around the edges. (these decals are small, and not printed very clear) but the basic idea comes through. Before After Before After and removed metal tabs on the bottom of the frame also. Before After I do these small projects in between the big ones. Thanks Jim

Very cool. Is it difficult to remove the old wheels from the shafts or do the new ones have a shaft? Sure makes a more realistic looking truck.

Very cool. Is it difficult to remove the old wheels from the shafts or do the new ones have a shaft? Sure makes a more realistic looking truck. Thanks Bruce, This was actually one of the easier conversions, since didn't have to take it apart. This is what the Hot Wheels axles look like and how they are attached to the chassis. They are pressed on each end like pin heads. I made these special tools a long time ago just to do just this. I didn't take pictures when I did the Dually, but the procedure was the same on the Monkee Mobile. I slide the tool over the axle and slide the axle as far as it will go to one side. Then I cut the axle Using the tool I slide the cut axle out On the Dually I also cut the tabs off the frame, as I did here The Greenlight (that is another brand of die cast cars, and they also make accessories) wheel set, actually does have axles with press on wheels. I just had to cut the axles to length and they slid right in. Then the wheels pressed on to the axles. This wheel set was only $8.00 delivered and does 4 vehicles. So at $2 a car and Hot Wheels running about $1, for $3 it makes a nice little model. I don't care if they don't roll, they sit in a case anyways. Thanks Jim

Well, let's just say you won't be having a display issue. You could fill up a curio cabinet with hundreds of these lil guys!

Yeah Steve, In theory that is true, but in reality, after nearly 40 years of collecting this stuff it's sorta outta control. This is part of my living room I build and add cases as I can fit them in, but what I can't display I built these trays for boxes. Each tray holds between 30 and 35 cars and each box holds 5 trays. I have 15 full boxes and 4 boxes of un opened packages. I have no clue what I have in total numbers, never really counted, since we add to it all the time, don't really care. And that's just die cast, not counting model kits. "No Brag, just fact" (Will Sonnett) LOL Thanks Jim

I thought I'd posted on this, but apparently not. That is a brilliant job on that truck! I love the new tires and wheels. You're right Mike, it does look more realistic with them.
Jim, I also love the shots of the entire collection. It almost looks the same size as my 1/72 scale armor collection. Way to go and keep them coming!

Thanks Mike, Sometimes I like to change the wheels, to make it look like a model, more than a toy. Never intended to accumulate this much, but at one time there where a lot of places that sold this stuff cheap, not anymore, so glad I got it when I did. Jim
