Soooo....Monday, July 5, we had a new security system installed. There are sensors on the doors, and windows, and a glass break monitor. There is a motion detector for the "Hobby Shack" out back. There is a door sensor for the new shed, to be called "Janie's Sale Barn". We also had a doorbell camera installed. The installer finished up around 9:30 PM. Mrs. Bucky was checking out the camera feature with her smart phone, and noticed a car stopping in front of the house, around 10:30 PM. It then moved down and stopped in front of our neighbor's house. Then, it did the same in front of the other houses on down the road. We thought that was strange. The next day, I noticed the mailbox door was opened. As I was driving up the road, I noticed our neighbor's mailbox was opened, too. Then, I realized what had happened the previous night. The Sheriff's office was contacted, and a deputy came down in a short while to get our report. I was assured that their are patrols would be increased in an effort to stop such shenanigans!!

Mail theft has become very prevalent! That's why so many get po boxes instead!

It's a sad state of affairs when an age old system like that gets abused,as our mail generally is put through a letter box on our front doors we don't get that kind of problem 😡😡

Our mailbox is around 120 feet from the front door, at the edge of the road. It's better for the young mail carriers to stay in their Jeeps and have us old, broken down retirees shuffle out to the mailbox, where the neighbor's pit bull can charge after us!! LOL

Yep, had this happen back in San Diego in '97, been using a PO box ever since. Now, if they tried that out this way nowadays, they'd have to contend with 5 dogs and an 870, in that order!
I won't count the ankle biter, she's inside, HA!

Interesting. I've never had any issues like that myself. We have a big shared mailbox in our condo complex that requires us to have a key to get in.

Finally got started on the Hobby Shack. Put some paneling on the walls, cleaned out some unrelated stuff, and started placing workbench related stuff. Got the paint booth vented through the wall, to the outside. When I get a little more done, I'll take some pics and post them. Two things remaining to do is install the circuit panel, and shelves.
