There's really no where to put this, so I figure the "Hangout" is as good a place as any.
Over the past 24 hours, I've taken a break from my normal model work to do something new and unique. Yesterday morning the mailman showed up with a package containing a new board game I purchased called "Tekhenu: Obelisk of the Sun". It's a dice-drafting, action-selection game with an ancient Egyptian setting. Among the game components is an actual plastic obelisk which is entirely superfluous from a gameplay perspective, but does add a certain "pizazz" and table presence to the game. Here's a shot of what it looks like along with some of the other game components:
While the plain brown plastic is perfectly adequate for normal day-to-day playing of the game, it just doesn't do justice to what should be something that stands out on the table. Therefore, after priming and staining the part yesterday afternoon, I spent this morning filling every hiroglyph with a pin wash and painting the crowning pyramid gold. Here's the result:
Needless to say, I'm much happier with the look of the obelisk now!
Time to get back to my regularly scheduled model...

Pretty cool Robert and a vast improvement in the piece. Will you be doing the rest of the pieces as well?

Thanks, Bruce and no, I don't want to try and come up with four, unique readily identifiable player colors for all the other pieces...28 per player! LOL.
