A week and a half ago, I had a guy from an overhead door place take a look at one of my garage doors. Something went REALLY wrong with it and I ended up having to disconnect the cables to lower the door down. Turns out the easy-winder door return broke. He said they had the parts in stock and that someone would call me Monday to arrange a time to do the repair. That was A WEEK AGO TODAY.
So I just called the place to see what the holdup was. Sure enough, The guy never actually turned in any paperwork, estimate, or anything. The fellow on the phone had NO IDEA of what I was talking about. Imagine THAT!
I've just recently had email conversations with two different guys about how terrible customer service is any more. Seems this is just one more case of that terrible service. I can't even imagine this happening back in the 60s or 70s. If it did happen, it would be a one of a kind fluke.
But the good news is that they actually had everything in stock and they will be here between 8:00 and 8:30 tomorrow morning. Now, that's the plan. I just hope to see them before noon. I figure that will be a "win" in this situation. I'm also kind of scared of what the actual bill will be. The estimate was for $360 and change. He is going to replace that broken spring return, then adjust all four tracks. The dingbats that installed the doors have the tracks in way too far. The reason the spring probably broke was because the tracks were in so far they were squeezing the track wheels in tight; really tight. Anyway, I'm expecting something closer to $400 - $450 before they are done. If I expect that, it won't hurt so bad when it happens.
