Hi all, again hope some of you guys are looking in regularly, there never seems to be any new posts and i somtimes wonder if its worth looking in let alone posting anything, i do go on the scale auto mag forums pretty often as it at least is busy but it aint really the same, seems less personal and friendly, but anyway i have got some very usefull info regarding resin parts and detail sets etc, just got some hex rod, pe bolt heads and some "GrandT" scale rivits, anyway some progress on the Kenworth, had to scratch build the entire butt end of the chassis in order to add an axle, and also decided to cut of the side steps and fit the other fuel tanks there, got some paint and decals on the cab and sleeper (and the hood etc, and chassis's just about ready for some more paint, big headace now is gonna be wheels and tyres, i bought a set of Italeri rubber tyres thinking they might fit the 1/25th rims but the buggers just fall right through, so i need to either find or make scale tyres or replace with 1/24th rims, hers a few new pics, cheers, ian (wheres the leader?)

Keep posting! I check in every day, and enjoy seeing what others are doing. I agree that this forum seems "more personal"- that's the attraction to me, too. Since i usually keep my builds real basic, I'm impressed by detail some of you guys put into your models- this Kenworth being a good example! I'm looking forward to seeing it finished.
Tom

Hi Tom, thanks for the comments, yeah this site is better, i dont concider myself as being a builder of highly detailed models at all, just enjoy doing them, i always get the impression on scale auto mag that if you aint up to their standard then you aint worth bothering with, but haveing said that there are some good guys on there and i have got many good tips etc, just a pity there's not more going on here, i'm a slow builder and only useually do an hour of an evening, when you feel you must get something done then it ceases to be enjoyable, still i try and stick as much detail as i'm able into my builds, some times it works out and sometimes it dont this is the first truck model i've done since my late teens so i wanted it to be a bit special, anyway thanks again and hope there will be more action on here soon what with winter comeing and all, i saw on the revolving globe some one in Arizona looking in but i guess he aint been back and there was no reply to the "hi Arizona" post ;D all the best, ian

Hi all!!! just a couple more pics, it's comeing on fine, added the fuel tank straps, i deciced to make them as the fit of the two part tanks aint all that good plus some parts had "dimples" in them, so i stripped the chrome, glued em together and filled low spots and bad joints and then sanded them down also removeing all molded in straps, the nwe straps are just two strips of slightly different size flat styrene glued together so the thinner one is sitting central on the wider one, then painted satin black, once dry i then glued them onto the tanks with cyno, then added BMF to the thin straps so the black "rubber" shows either side, painted the air bags and will paint the brake air actuators once i have air piping fitted, the catapillar, engine is in with a few bits of detail still to add, dash is done, this was a real pain, in the kit you get the original tooled "LHD" dash which is nicely detailed, the alternitive "AUS RHD" dash is just flat with a dials decal to go on, looks rubbish, so i've drilled out the dial holes, cut a piece of clear and white styrene, slid the decals onto the clear and clearfixed this in place, with the "wood" look front dash on top, added two small rings cut from alloy tube as bezels for the two big gauges, with lights behind the dash it will allow enough light through the gauge decals to make them "light up" i hope, i stuck a decal on the sleeper top, its from the Mecury 49 kit, also scored this Dodge l700 kit of fleabay, very nice looking kit, the box is certainly full up
