Hot Wheels Firebird Returns

My grandchildren crashed it again.  “Can you fix it again?”  I said yes.


I used a nail to fix the window posts.


I learned from a club member how to drill and tap the rivet post.  I now use screws to fasten the chassis in place.


I learned from a person on You Tube, to super glue the part in place.  Then sprinkle baking powder over the super glue.  It mixes with the super glue making it harder.   The fix is being tested now, my grandchildren have the car.

I used a jeweler’s saw to cut the nail.  My dad gave the saw to me before he passed away.  He used it to cut gold rings and size them for the customers at the jewelry store he worked at.  The saw is over 50 years old!  I think about my dad every time I see it!

I just now read the added text. Some cool techniques, there. Great saw you have. I've got a lot of my Dad's old machinist tools. I only use a few of them.

Thank you very much!  Dad also gave me the tweezers holding the post next to the car.  They hold the part, and you squeeze them to let go of the part.  Worked great for putting the post in place!

I like those type tweezers. Sometimes, I just let the other kind go....and the carpet monster has a snack!!

I use these tweezers on just about every car I build, they are great!  The carpet was removed long ago.  I have no carpet monster to worry about.

Thank you very much!   I do love fixing my grandson’s Hot Wheels!  They are so happy and excited when I give them the finished cars!!!  I really love that!  Makes me happy!
