I'm sorry if I posted in the wrong place, it does seem paint related to me. I may try to replicate the funny car my neighbor owned. I will post a pic of the car here. My question is if I paint the whole car gloss black will the black bleed through white and yellow decals? I can paint the white and yellow but using decals would be a whole lot easier. I don't decal that well so I'm not too familiar with what can, and can't, be done with them. If anyone knows a custom decal maker who can do gold and white that will help me also. The hood and sides have white and yellow stripes. The number 1217 and the word Charger were in gold leaf on the real car. In addition to the ones on the hood and sides I'll need white decals for the BB/FC beside/below the 1217 and Steel City that is on the front spoiler. Any advice will be appreciated.

Depends on the quality of the decal film... I have seen some cover and some not so well so its kind of hit or miss... I would think it would be better to paint those areas white and lay the decal right over that but someone else may have a better idea!

That would work. It would require careful masking. Some builders will lay down a first set of decals, allow them to dry thoroughly, then lay down a second set of decals. That might be expensive if you had to have decals specially made.

Thank yinz for the advice. I've heard of double decaling. You are right Bucky, could be pricey doing that. I mknow you should paint lighter to darker but in this case I may not do that. I may paint the xar black then mask the areas I need for the white and yellow stripes. I'd probably put down a couple light coats of white primer after masking each of them off. Should hopefully hide the black. I do use DupliColor lacquers.

Sounds like that might work. You might do a practice run on some scrap plastic first.

Why practice? That's why they invented Super Clean Actually it's good advice. I may buy some plastic spoons.

1/24 isn't too bad. I'm hoping I won't have to strip the 1/16s I plan to paint. May have to invest in a 55 gallon drum LOL.
