Welcome Derek, what a great hobby you have. Looking forward to seeing more of your work. Who knows? some of your ideas for moving parts might work in our plastic worlds too.... minus the steam of course.

Welcome Derek, As a youngster I used to go to as many steam rallies as I could, mainly in the Midlands,Warwickshire,Leicestershire, as long as I could get to it on my push bike with a tent, I used to look after a traction engine called Lucy built buy its owner who had gotten too old to to the manual/physical side of things, not sure what scale it was but it had a trailer and I would pull two or three people at a time with it. The owner hitched it up to his Morris Minor once and towed the car about to show what it could do. I wish I had pictures and knew where it was now. Looking forward to seeing your stuff

Looking forward to seeing your stuff If it was a miniature steam traction engine it could have been 3inch 3 and half inch, 4 inch, 4 and a half inch or 5 inch don't know if there where any steam model traction engines made bigger than 5 inch. Yes steam is powerful for pulling and driving things, well most things could pull a Morris Minor they are not that heavy after all, this is my own Morris Minor

A while after I bought it I realised it was exactly the same as the one owned by the gentleman who's engine I used to look after!! I'll get another Moggie on retirement
