More than it needed to be Joe. The end result is not really as out-of -whack as I'd thought about doing after all: IMG_1298 by Russel Baer, on Flickr Oh well. The removal of the solid basket floor came out okay, and I was on Sprue Bros ready to order up the Eduard PE to get a nice piece of mesh until I saw the price. Improv time it is.

I've tried a couple of different types of mesh for the basket floor, not happy with either. I need a thin piece of brass of something simipar with round perforations, not a woven wire or expanded metal look. I'm fresh out of ideas here. The only AM sets are EXPENSIVE, and one of them has a really poor representation of what I need, and the other one doesn't show well in any pics of it I've found. Hmmm......

A little stowage and or a tarp would suffice, as long as you don't tell anyone.

I should have left the solid kit floor in and covered it up, is what I shoulda done. But noooooo, can't do that, can I? I'm still noodling it, working on the other one, and waiting for Sprue Bros to mark Legends stuff down about 60%. Then I've got a plan.

Have you looked at Aber's S16 Drilled Plate? www.bnamodelworld.com/military-vehicles-tanks-detail-up-parts-aber-ab-s16I have some to use the next time I do a dry-stowage Sherman interior and need to craft a turret basket.

T'anks y'all! In the interest of finishing this thing, I went ahead and filled in the turret basket floor. I'll just have to load the basket up. After that, I was able to proceed with some stuff on the back of the turret, and actually get going again. IMG_1320 by Russel Baer, on Flickr A lot of the detail back there is done very heavily, in plastic and not particularly well, by Academy, so I'm using scrap brass from PE frets to scratch it up.

Paint! IMG_1344 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I realized I was just stalling, and I also got a little tired of painting figures, so I took a hard look at this one, realizing I had very little left to do. I took an afternoon to do the last few things and painted yesterday, will start washes soon.
