This bus was inspired by one that my dad had. I started with the Hawsegawa/Revell Deluxe VW bus.(I wanted to use an old Revell but couldn't find one.).
The bus I wanted to build was a "walk thru" which meant a lot of modifications. It also had a solid roof,(no windows or sunroof).
The kit
I filed and filled the roof, and remembered the fresh air vent over the windshield, so I scratch built that.
The other detail that's missing in the bus was the grab handle on the dash, and the shelf beneath it.
Then it was time to do the hard part, converting the non-walk thru to a walk thru. (Walk thru = the ability to walk from the front seat to the rear seat, with in the bus)
The first and hardest was changing the front bench seat to a pair of buckets, (that was the easy part). the fun started when I had to make the aisle between the seats.
The center bench was cut down to a 3/4 bench, and interior panels were made.
I added the ashtrays and grab handles.
Here's the finished bus, with exception of the windows, (some how I misplaced them).
