At home, resting my knee while I wait for the "fix" so I thought I'd model. What a great idea! I started the turret last night, did most of the hard work on the fenders today. About the mantlet cover: From what I've read, the tanks received from West Germany were in sorry shape, and it seems one of the things the IDF did was add a secondary mantlet cover, so I used Aves putty to fluff up the DEF part. That's the dragon turret btw. IMG_9773 by Russel Baer, on Flickr The fenders were tedious, but they're on, except for the air cleaner section, which I'll re-do in flat stock.

Off today, guess who had some quality modeling time? Here's a shot of the T/C's hatch, next to what I started with. The paint is to check for flaws, and I can see I need a little more sanding before I add the two periscopes at the back. IMG_9774 by Russel Baer, on Flickr And fenders, pretty close, with brackets begun: IMG_9775 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_9776 by Russel Baer, on Flickr Feels like I'm moving along nicely now. I'll probably find something wrong soon.

Slow but sure, but the hull is nearing completion. I'm having no luck finding out what was usually stowed with the track tools on the right, but everything else is either kit parts or close to it, then it's on to the turret. IMG_0143 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_0142 by Russel Baer, on Flickr

That'll go on the back of the engine cover. The only reference I have that shows anything at all there is a line drawing with what looks like a flat gourd there. I may end up using some footman's loops and leaving it empty. I just don't have any pics (yet) of that area.

I finally found a couple of pics of that area, and there is nothing there! Maybe I'll put a couple of oil cans there. And once I saw an empty spot, out came the primer. IMG_0145 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I'll need to look for booboos, but before I shot the primer I textured all the cast parts of the hull with a mixture of MEK and Squadron green putty, works like MrSurfacer but dries FAST. And I tickled myself: I only had a few bits of the Dragon turret basket (I think I used some of it on the Magach 5) so I got out some steel wire and scrap brass and got after it. IMG_0144 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I like the end result, should be sturdy too.

Thank you Bruce. My wife's firm has moved to at-home operations, I'm on a reduced schedule, so I may end up with some more modeling time soon.
