The redecorating is an insurance job, we could have done it ourselves but this is a claim on principles,we've had ongoing subsidence claims for 15 years, I found out if a claim is made within a two year period then it counts as the original claim and no further amount has to be paid,we originally had to pay £1000 😬😬 up front! As there has been new movement within the two year period and counting I just claim again and will do so until any movement stops, apparently up to 4mm of movement is acceptable!! We should be back in by the weekend hopefully with a little less stuff in there!!

Unfortunately Joe it seams that part of the house was built over a patch of Sussex clay, the area prospered on its clay products, the last place actually only closed early last year, ( it's a new housing estate already) it's a shame really as it was the only place to carry on firing clay products throughout the war.

Clay does expand and contract with the weather, hence the movement... out old single wide trailer was on clay ground and every winter I had to reset all the doors so they would open and close all the way from the movement and twisting of the home on the moving ground... never filed an insurance claim... guess I missed that opportunity as I sold it years ago!!! Lol!!!

Normally our front door gets adjusted in the summer,if it then rains we can notice the difference in less than 10 minutes. It has been adjusted that many times we were told the last time if there is movement again that effects the door then it will have to be replaced, the door and the rest of the porch area has been replaced once already under our insurance,I'm confident with all the repair work, surveying, replacements etc it would have been cheaper to dig in and underpin! Who knows, I just hope this time it is fixed
