Well here is another one, in the shop, has been for about 2 years, yes thats crushed velvet in there too, really the only thing i dont like about the kit, is the rear taillight panel, I think it should have a chrome insert, but we're gonna try and fix that, with some chroming powder, well here are some mock shots, paint is Dupli-color Cherry Red Pearl, over Dupli-Color red Primer, looks better in person, an I havent done the clear yet, or the wet sanding, plus this waiting on an engine too.... I USED THE STOCK HOOD, AND FITTED IT TO THE KUSTOM GRILL

I like this! The color is great! That front grill looks cool in there, too. Have you considered putting BMF on that rear grill??

Yeah I have but I so suk at it it's not funny, ok, well yeah it is funny, so I have some of this aisien choming powder, so I'm gonna give that a fling, I've seen it done on blue paint, so it should work on cherry, if not then its back to the masking, then go from there...

Keep us posted on how that works out. If it does good, then we might benefit from a how-to on it!!

I have a curbside Wildcat somewhere so i'll be watching this one for inspiration.

Looking good! i did a wildcat and pretty sure it had the custom parts in it, just looked through the spares box and found the hood with a bump like the box art one, also a grill and (i think) rear lights grill, both are chromed, the top one i think is the rear panel, i also have the square red lenses for that one, just cant remember if they came from the buick kit Ummmm whats this "chrome powder" then?

Those r both front grills Popeye, and yes from the '66 Buick wildcat kit, and yep thats the hood, I didnt like the way hood looked, so like I said I used the stock hood and filed it to fit the kustom grill.... the Chroming pwder is some stuff called Kosutte-Ginsan, its preped just like alclad, or spaztix, clean, primer, gloss black, then you just rub this stuff on using q-tip's, or cotton balls, the wierd thing is, I have seen this stuff used on Blue gloss, but yet, it has to be a enamal, I think, to turn out really good, If you use just say like Dupli=color gloss black, it looks like black cHrome to the eye, but chrome, chrome to the camera, go figure...

I was sure that top grill was a rear one as i have the square red lenses for it, anyway!! i did a search on ebay (international) for that chrome powder and the only "hit" i had was a co in NY, my god it was dam near $100, screw that, someone said Hobby linc (japan) stocks it but i aint checked yet, if you do use it please post some pics of the stages if at all possible, i always tend to treat these "magic" things with touch of sceptism, remember years back i sent off thos this "do it yourself" elecrtro plating kit, ya got a tub of some magic powder or paste (cant remember which), a wire waith a crock clip both ends, one went on the piece to be plated and the other end went to the neg battery terminal, plus this wire brush thing with a wire that went to the pos battery terminal, pictures in their advert showed perfect chrome plating, the kit turned out to be rubbish, it did gradually add a VERY thin coat of chrome which looked like dull silver paint, and it took ages to get that, you'd need to spend the rest of your life on it to build up enough microns for a decent plating,

Popeye, I wish I could use that grill you have for the rear of mine, I think that might be out of the 70? , not sure, but I know it's not in my distructions as a part. Yea the chrome stuff is hard to get, it works ok I guess, and I think Hobby link, like you said has it, tho I could ask a guy here in Az if he has any more of it, let me kno...

Well if you can use the grill you've only to say and i'll get it in the post, haveing said that tho i just hope your customs service is a little more effecient than ours, a guy on scalemodel mag forums recently sent me the old style wheels, tyres and hood parts for a 31 ford, he kindly sent them free with a .50 cent value and our customs decided i had to pay VAT (value added tax) plus a handleing charge, had to cough up £14.49 before they'd deliver!! rip off britian at it's best ;D wouldn't have minded but they state that goods/gifts need to be valued at £18 or more before you have to pay, total wast of time trying to get in touch via phone or their web site, anyway if ya can make use of it let me know, cheers, ian
