Ok, So this morning I decided I'd do a simple project, trim out the 68 Cougar. Thought it would be better if I disassembled it so I wouldn't scratch the glass, Easy right! WRONG! It is now a repaint project. Why, you may ask. I found the car to be built with what looked to me as ABC gum, (Already Been Chewed), AND silicone!! Gobs of it. Got all the ABC gum removed and most of the silicone. But there is still some left inside the body. Anyone know how to remove it cleanly so I can repaint? The Cougar as I received it.   Nice build BUT! The pile, (wad), is the wad of ABC gum.  The silicone.   This has just become a major project!! Jerry |

I would think the silicone should peel out,, but I'm guessing you tried that already,, maybe alcohol?  ? I might also suggest goo-be-gone,, however I don't know how that would react with the plastic. Any idea on what they were using the ABC gum for? Extra weight is the only thing that pops to my mind. |

Wow....ya got me on the silicone! Never saw that before. I like the Cougar, tho, and am looking forward to the fantastic finish!

I put the body in the Super Clean, and surprisingly it all cleaned up! The body has been primed, and the interior has been disassembled.    Jerry |

That was a real mess. Sorry you ran into that, but glad to see it cleaned up OK. I'm a little partial to the first Cougars. I had a '67. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with this.
