Okay, so it's not exactly factory stock. I could have put this in customs, or even in pickups, but I built this as my idea of what the Chevrolet geniuses missed out on back in '62: "] I used an AMT 1962 Impala convertible kit, the bed from an AMT 1965 ElCamino, the roof from a Monogram 1958 Thunderbird, and half the chassis from an AMT 1959 ElCamino to build this. The 409 is from the kit. The go-cart is none other than world-famous model builder, Tommy May's award winning creation! Here's a link to the build photos: public.fotki.com/imperialbucky/chevrolet-wip-shots/Thanks for checking out "Palamino"!!

This would have been a real handful ta drive. The 62 409s were bad enough let alone havin something that light in the rear. Looks great. You've done some nice work here my friend.

That is 1 SLICK looking ride. I agree, too bad they missed out on this in '62.. A beautiful, clean and well detailed build to boot.

Thanks, guys!! This was a real blast to build! I didn't run into a whole lot of trouble building this one, either. Even some "out-of-the-box" builds give me fits, but not this one! hahaha

Excellent build, love the "go-kart", a pick-up is always much better with something in the flatbed even if it's just tools or tool box's,

I tried to talk Tommy into letting the go-cart come home with "Palamino". It didn't work. I guess I didn't talk long enough and I didn't mention any dollar amounts, either!!!! hahaha

This is beautiful!!! I think 1959 was the last year for the full size El Camino. They should have kept building them. Very well done!!!

Thanks for the compliment, Mike! Actually, 1960 was the last year for the full size. I have a couple old glue bombs to redo.
