Picked up this used AMT ERTL 1:25 scale kit of the 1957 T-Bird kit on Evil Bay, years ago, with the intention to build it as a 60s style Gasser. After seeing some of Ed Fluck's resins ( Drag City Castings ) recently, decided to finally get it on the bench. So, resin Tear Drop induction hood, designed to fit the '57 Bird. Thinking about replacing the chrome 245 T-Bird motor with an injected or dual carb Ford 427, keeping the body to Gasser specs with the fiberglass top.

Great project! Didja get one of Ed's resin tops for the Bird? They are very nice, too.

The kit has one, otherwise, would have. Have a drawer full of his castings.

Been meaning to build it for awhile now. Other projects kept jumping in front. Compliments to Ed Fluck. His top has the correct Port Holes, which the kit does not. This kit was an opened box and has parts missing. That's why I decided to make it a Gasser Race car. Clean up more seam lines, scribed door panels, trunk and other lines to prep for painting. Also added the head light besels, which are too big and need to be modified. The kit has no grill and front bumper, but I do have some pressure tanks to fill the space, like a lot of the Gassers of that time period did.

I had originally base coated it with silver non-buffing, in hopes of a candy color. Going to have to out in the garage and see what's available. Maybe a candy apple something.
