So we were sitting around the living room on Wednesday talking about the new flooring for the living room and kitchen. We look at each other at the same time and said Why don’t we gut the living room like we have been talking about? You see, we live in a trailer and in the winter our heat bill is $400 per month. Most of this is from the windows. So, this morning I got up at 8am and ripped out all of the drywall on the exterior walls. The windows will be resealed and the room re-drywalled. Unfortunately, I also had to rework all of the electrical in the room (which sucks because the whole house is wired 12 ga). 2/3 of one wall is done:

As of yesterday, all drywall has been hung and nearly all taping/mudding is done! We didn't replace all the drywall in the room, so I'm having some issues getting the tape job looking right on the sheets we didn't replace. Other than that, it's come together nicely.
Contractor started ripping up floor yesterday and we found 4" of water standing in the insulation on top of the vapor barrier under the floor. Some mold is growing down there. Looks like 90 sq feet of vapor barrier and insulation will have to be replaced under floor. Insurance will be cutting supplemental checks and have recommended some companies that offer patches to the mobile home vapor barriers.

6 weeks, $3,000 and a lot of blood sweat and tears: Next week we will do window treatments (colonial/farm style framing) and a new custom cabinet build from my workshop! Next week I also start turning the master bath into 2 rooms—powder room and bathroom!

In yet another step to remove the mobile home feel of the house we have started the new window casings and trim. My wife picked out the design, we picked out the wood and I am building them custom. To by these premise would be $100 per window. We bought all the supplies for 4 windows for $45. Here is the end result on the first window:
