I know what you're thinking: What in the name of the Holy Trinity (The Styrene, the Resin, and the Photo-etched Brass) does this have to do with modeling? Moderators, kindly allow me to skirt the edges of political commentary in this thread. It is my belief that a no-deal Brexit economic policy train wreck is going to occur at the end of October. Should this occur, it is my further belief that both the Pound Sterling and the Euro will suffer an immediate decline against the US Dollar. A weakening of those two currencies would make products priced in those currencies cheaper for American purchasers. To that end, there are some products from Europe on my acquisition list that I am holding off on purchasing, in the belief that my dollars will go fractionally farther a couple of months from now:
MiniArt M3A5 diesel Grant: Yes, this kit isn't even released yet but since it will originate in Ukraine, it will be priced in Euros. I need a Diesel Grant (see below), and this one will keep me from having to convert a Takom gas-powered version in my inventory which may become surplus and available to a new home.
Resicast M1 Dozer Blade for VVSS: This, along with an Asuka suspension, will be fitted to the above Grant to make an Australian example.
Resicast Treadway Bridge mounts for M31: I've already got a Takom M31 kit and 3D-printed Treadway bridge parts from Shapeways; these parts will save me some scratchbuilding work.
MMK Caterpillar D6K bulldozer: This is a lovely multi-media kit of a current 'dozer, used by the US Army and Marines among others. This would make a nifty load for my Trumpeter M983A2/M870A1 combination.
There's probably some stuff from Accurate Armour worth picking up too, but the above items are highest on my shopping list. I see no real downside to waiting, since it's certain that the dollar isn't going to weaken against these currencies over the next eight weeks or so.
ADMIN NOTE: This thread is intended to show an economical possibility that may occur in October, which may have an effect on the buying power of our pocket change. As a member of the Admin team here at OSM, I don't see a problem with this thread. If anybody has a differing opinion, please contact one of the Administrators by PM. Thanks for making this a great forum, folks!!
