Ok, so I had the most encouraging and uplifting moment this morning and I just gotta tell ya'all!
It needs a little background first: About 8 years ago, both my wife and I were diagnosed with thyroid issues. Hers was underactive to the point of not working at all. Mine had gone into overdrive. For her, she had gained quite a bit of weight despite not eating much at all, lost energy, and her hair started thinning. For me, I lost 45 lbs in 3 months because I could not eat one ounce of animal fat without throwing up. I also started losing my hair. All of this very disturbing for mid-30 somethings. After going to 2 different doctors, I ended up gaining 80 lbs and having even less energy and hair...
Fast forward 7 years and we're both with the same endocrinologist (3rd for both of us) and he has worked wonders. Sara is on HGH and is doing much better. My thyroid numbers have been perfect for a year, my energy is back, and my hair is getting a bit thicker again! Despite all of this, we've still struggled to lose weight that we gained while getting the problem under control. (I hit 300lbs a year ago--a number I told myself I'd never hit. I hit 310 in January).
When I weighed in at 310, I stopped Mountain Dew cold turkey and lost 4 lbs over 4 months. In June, our doc started me on some medicines to boost metabolism and suppress appetite. His reasoning is that my thyroid and testosterone are right where they need to be, but I"m carrying around 100lbs too much weight. Getting that off will make me feel 100% better.
At our follow up 6 weeks later (about a month ago), I had lost 14 lbs (dropping from 306 in June to 292 in July). First time UNDER 300 in over a year! Well, today, when I put my pants on, I have ONE hole on the small side of my belt before I have to get a smaller one!!! (This time last year, I was on the other end and needing to get a bigger one)
We don't have good working scale, but I'm estimating I"m down between 20 and 25 since June now.

Outstanding Scott! I know what you're going through. I'm diabetic and trying to drop the pounds I have. At the beginning of the year I was in the high 260's, low 270's. Now I'm hovering around 245. I'm getting real close to my short term goal of getting below 237 and then I'll be working on the longer term goal! I'll pray for your continued success for you and your wife. Keep the faith man!

That’s awesome man! I would like to get down to 210-220. At those weights, my knees and ankles should heal and delay the replacement of my right knee.
