Well this is what I've come up with,dark brown wash then dry brush of the base colour followed by a second dry brush of a lighter base colour but possibly a bit too light,any thoughts? As can be seen by the chevrons I started to get the shakes so called it a day

Many thanks Joe,

managed to get the head (less cap) done but got the shakes again,I think it's down to poor eye sight so new glasses can't come soon enough. Due to the eyes being 99.9% covered by the peak of the cap I was going to leave them alone.
