'46 / '47 / '48 Chevy Straight Six. Seen some in blue, some in a kind of mid grey, which is correct or are they both accurate!? Cheers.

Everything I have read says they came from the factory in darker blue/gray color... hence the confusion over the blue or the gray people restore them to... Example: The correct engine color paint is available from ....www.fillingstation.com...or....www.chevs of the 40s.com... www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?parta~dyndetail~Z5Z5Z50000014a~Z5Z5Z52217~P16.50~~~~S2R00Y1FY275107121150c~Z5Z5Z5~Z5Z5Z50000014x ..and is a dark blue/gray color. This same color was used from 1929-1952 and on some engines up to 1962.

The following picture is from a much older car but is the color in question...
