While I wait on the new year to start I thought I would get started on one of my 2 Comet kits... the other I will build with Mike and Bucky as my custom version I drove in high school!!! This one will be in the original Mariner Turquoise Metallic it wore when my Mom & Dad gave it to me on my 16th birthday in 72'... here is a pic of the day I got it and the kit I am using...

Very cool, Joe! I like the color on that one. I owned a white '65 in '77-'78. It had blue interior, bench seat, 289 V-8, and three-on-the-tree!
I sold it in order to get the down payment for a '78 Dodge Li'l Red Express pickup.

Not all the chrome... some trees have some parts not there, I assume that is for the Comet Stock Car kit they put out...

Looking closer its choice of wheels and valve covers... no front bench seat but being the Cyclone it has the buckets and center console with 4 on the floor like my real one... only thing missing is the old under dash air conditioner which I will have to scratch a rough copy of as mine has air...

My Comet had the under dash air, too. I called it a "knee freezer"!

Have a seat, progress will commence soon... Oh yeah I need to add extender brackets to the back of the rear springs like mine had as the rear end was jacked up... you can see them in my picture if you look close...

I thought I saw those on there. We called them "spring shackles" around my hometown. Shouldn't be too hard to replicate.

Previous owner has it in the halfway height as I will do this car, my model one will be full height on the other kit I build with you as I raised it to full height with the wide mags I added... F-160s... lol!!!

Looking over the parts for spray painting black and white I realized that there are two parts that need to be body color... part 40 is the rock guard for the front bumper and part 41 the body rear panel that you can glue on before you paint the body...

If you attach that rear panel, can you still install the chassis with no problem? Might be worth checking out.

If you attach that rear panel, can you still install the chassis with no problem? Might be worth checking out. It has you install it before the chassis... the chassis sits below it and will be covered by the bumper... Here it is already on the body and where the chassis goes... no issue!!!
