Use Crystal light containers for storing spare parts... write on the lid what's in for easy grab when you are looking for something... Also large and small yogurt containers work for larger items or diorama storage of materials...

I like the space. I wish mine looked that good. I do need to seriously clean it up. I would watch thew yogurt containers; I used some like that and after awhile, mine grew brittle and broke apart, spilling everything all over. I've never used Crystal Light, so I can't comment on those. I tend to use the Tostitos Salsa glass jars for many of my storage ideas. I've also done those compartmentalized tool boxes to sort out my accessories, stowage, tools, and other parts. I'll try to get a pic or two later.

I've had these for years with no problems Mark but I don't have that hot Southern California dry weather to deal with so maybe that is the difference... as for the Crystal Light containers they are a thicker but softer plastic like Rubbermaid with some give to them... If you want to see a messy desk look at my Tumbler Build, it isn't clean anymore!!! LOL!!!

I know that feeling; mine is so messy, I had to set up a separate table to work on! Good to know about the Crystal Light containers.

hey guys, I am going thru a major overhaul at my bench. I can never seem to get it comfortable. things I have to figure out is;
- do I want my tool handy (I have a tool carousel now) or do I want them in a drawer or tool box.
- do I what one of those magnet strips that holds them?
- I have enough storage, I think, so how do I separate the pieces.
- and many, many more.

Well you see how I separate pieces in containers that are marked and then placed in drawers where I can read the tops when I open them... my paints are on the racks right in front of me at all times... my tools are in tool holders (open wooden boxes with dividers) next to the desk except what I am using on a project, that is on the desk through the build... paint brushes are in old jars so I can just grab what I want. Glue is on the bottom of the paint shelf in front of me at all times. My stash is in totes under the desk and on the top two shelves of my extensive book cases for modeling and woodworking books as well as novels across from the desk where I can see them easily to decide what to build next... I'll try and remember to get you some pictures when I am home later...

Thanks Tony, works for now, have a new bench planned that I will build around that corner and new tile floors to replace the peeling paint and uneven wooden floors...

Here's my desk, during the course of a build: I have all kinds of storage, but can't remember where a lot of the stuff is!! LOL I haven't read the chapter on labeling, yet! This old desk holds most of my hobby tools, and things like masking tape, and all the BMF I have on hand. After we move, I hope to organize the new hobby room to be more efficient.

That ain't dirty enough Bucky! LOL! Mine is worse.
Still, I wish I had the room you guys do for setting things up. I really need to work on that in my Hobby Room. I have literally no wall space for hanging up racks and such.

What about some floor to ceiling racks down the middle of the room Mark with a bench on one wall with storage above and below???

The difficulty with that is I have my wife's sewing desk down the middle holding my tubs of armor right now. The two walls with shelving are opposite each other and one wall has a large window (that has a secondary workbench-type structure) and the other side is the very full closet. the whole thing is a 10x10 room without all the furnishing and shelving in there. Yeah, very small room.
