66 Caddilac coupe de ville

One of the "american 66" series this is more or less right out the box, aint a lot to these kits in fact their pretty crap, no engine, no detailed dash (it's a decal) but some good subjects in the series and the body molding aint too bad, i actually started this one some months ago, same time as the chevy 3100 truck, then got lazy, that was before this web site started up but as bucky restarted my interest i got going again, the paint is actually a mistake!! it was supposed to get painted in the green color ya see in the last pic of the interior tub, what happened was i painted the tub and body way back then, i made the mistake of giveing the body a coat of pearl, that gave the color as a pinkish look, one of the reasons i shelved both kits and gave up, anyway i stripped the paint off and re did it with what i thought was the green color (i used decoart water base metalics, the int tub is dark patina and i mistakenly used olive pearl which looks like bloody light gold) my fault for not double checking my colors, haveing stripped the dam thing once i just couldn't be bothered doing it again, anyway the colors dont look too bad together,
useual led lights but i made a big error by not painting inside the wings with some black, the light shines through the bodywork around the front, also opened up the front side lights and "glassed2 em with clearfix, (this clearfix also makes a good light defuser, once built up and dry it carries light well, would be good to lots of little pin-point lights in a dash or whatever, added some clear-color orange to these side lights, thats about it, thanks for "observing" ;D

Cheer's guys, not one of my better builds i thought, paint was a bit heavy and lights showing through the body is a let down, but i cant face redoing it, i should have known better, it aint exactly my first go at putting lights in, the leds headlights are a bit too bright, should have used lower cmd ones, or toned em down with resistors of a lower value
lights (l.e.d's) are useually from ebay, and useually from china (isn't everything these days), ya can get some good cheap deals on leds,

I think the Caddy looks fine! I'd like to see a pic shot outside in the natural daylight. That color would prolly look different! A tip about the light shining through the body....ya might try coating the inside of the body with black paint to limit the amount of light that comes through the plastic.

Cheer's Keith, i'll make sure i coat the inside next time, i've fitted them many times before and not really had it this bad, i think the led's i used this time were higher "CMD" (brighter) than i've used before tho, plus i dribbeld a lot of clear fix in there and thats helping to spread the light about, on a close look i can see the light shines through right where the clear fix is, it's acting as a kind of "prism"

I'll find something to block it with, i do have some black BMF i dont use much, that should stop it,
as for the caddy i cay that light comeing out under there is the flux capsitor powering up ;D
