I am doing the 1/535 scale USS Missouri also by Revell. With my jets I have taken to painting them combat squadron colors but this one has the color scheme commemorating the day the Japanese signed the treaty ending the war. I will be taking special care with this one and it will be a nice addition to my small WWII collection at work.

Mo’s first color and the deck are painted: Next will be a thin dark blue line above the red and then the dark gray on top

I always thought the decks were painted a grey blue during WWII and weren't stripped down to the wood until after the war...

Hmm. I’ll have to look that over. Maybe this is the post war version...if so may have to revisit the colors

Thanks for the info Joe! Really am looking for this to be as close as possible to the surrender version!

So now i have a delimma...Do I leave the wood that is molded on the plastic and just paint blue-grey over it or do I pull out the dremel and sand off the wood ridges so that it looks more like the ship did on VJ day? I put it in the box the other night just to think on it. I'm looking at some of the black and white pictures and I don't see the "blue" strip that's on this model. In fact, I haven't seen a single picture with it and the instructions don't show it. Thinking maybe the red I have on the bottom and the dark gray on top, but I think my gray might be too dark. Decisions, decisions!

The wood ridges were there under the paint, it always had the teak, just painted over in wartime!!! So don't waste time scraping off the detail...
