I have some Tamiya (synthetic lacquer) primer, and some Dupli-color paint (acrylic lacquer) color code matched to a 1:1 Dodge I used to own and am replicating in scale soon. Are these compatible? Are there any special techniques or prep work needed? I have only ever used enamels and water based acrylics in the past,so this will be my first lacquers (since high school and in scale, anyways,LOL!). Thanks in advance

You should try your paints out on a piece of styrene to see if there compatable I think they are. Darcy

Steve, I am in agreement with Darcy on this. However, I have used Tamiya , under several different topcoats & I have not encountered any issues. I would tell you , I would wait a couple of days in between base coat & top coat application. HTH 8-)RICK By the way, how are things going for you & your family?

Thanks Rick. I shot the primer last eve,and the color coat this eve (well, half of it,the bottom was black on my 1:1 back in the 90's-I'll mask\shoot that tomorrow),will try the clear in a few days (I have a can of Tamiya clear, but will most likely go back and buy a can of Duplicolor clear for this),no issues, see? ;D I had a body from one o the Revell '06-09 Mustangs that hadn't melted (most of the kit hd,body was fine),I used it for the test mule We're doing fne, other than her having absolutely ZERO luck finding work. She has an interview tomorrow (only her second or third since we've been here ). It's a job she wants, but starts at part time, hopefully going to full soon. As for everything else,we're doing pretty good, and this place actually feels like "home" now...I'm even (obviously) getting back to building-and have been (enjoying a good spell with the neck\back so I've been) riding the wheels off the bicycles, and takng Nick on lots of rides too-heck, he's ridden his little 16" wheeled bike 173 miles since we moved here*,LOL! *That's just the mileage he's ridden with me,that I log from my bicycle computer\speed\odo,not counting the riding around our driveway and block he's done,LOL! Check my ride blog (see my sig) for pics and words about some of his\my rides ;D

Steve, The shot of your body looks great. Glad to hear you didn't encounter ant hiccups with this . Tamiya primer & railroad colors primer are the only 2 I use. Never had an issue with either. Keep us posted on your progress.
Glad to hear that all is going ok for you & the family.

Thanks Rick, will do It's about to get lonely for me n Moonlite (the dog),as Tina (finally found one!) begins training at her new job today ;D It'll just be part time until at least January, but at 30 hours per week,it pays more than her unemployment has been. I'm gunna sleep half the day (I don't usually crash until about 3AM,then get up with the kids at 0630),then bath the dog, vacuum the LR,and get to the bench, teeheehee!
