Lest we forget why we build models or fret over the younger generations not following in our footsteps, there is hope: Saw this on Facebook and thought I might share it with you. A 14 year old made this out of misc. pieces of wood in Africa for the game he loves so much. Not a school project no ego, just a love for the game and yeah...modelling, with whatever was available. And we fret when a kit isn't just right or has the extra photo etch set... Use whatever you can and have fun!!! Be proud of your accomplishments!!!

Pretty cool. For me it was always about military history, always loved reading about it,building models made it come alive.

My intense fascination with muscle cars in the sixties got me started building the 1/24 and 1/25 scale models that I still build. Kudos to the young man for sticking with this stadium build. It had to be a long term project!!

My dad building models is what got me into building. That stadium build is amazing. That kid is to be commended for his patience and perseverance.

That stadium is amazing for what he had to work with!! I got into modeling when I was about 10 years old when for either my b-day or Christmas my folks gave me some model kits as gifts. Been hooked ever since.

I started model building as a kid.....fast forward 40+ yrs....still at it...I was never in the military...not a pilot...never owned a boat...but I owned a lot of 1/1 sportscars over the years....couple O bikes too....so that's what I build...I worked as a machinist...in the motorsports field for many years...so I build a lot of scale models of cars I was around or made parts for....3-D printing and CNC stuff has taken over my old job...I had to retire early (NOT BY CHOICE !) so in a way my disability has enabled me to build models more !...

That is one magnificently tremendous model that boy did! Way to go! I commend him for his efforts, perseverance and success!
I model because my mother got me into it. My efforts were cemented into a consistent scale by a friend who moved in down the street later. As a youth, I built models to help improve my position in our wargames. Later when all my fellow modeling friends moved away, I continued to build so I could complete collections or series of as many versions of vehicles I could get. I had fixed on building models of vehicles, ships and aircraft for certain countries and increasing each country's force size also motivated me to keep building; almost as if someone would challenge me to another wargame.... collection vs collection like we did when I was a kid....

I got back in modeling since I got tinnitus. It distracts me from the 24/7 hissing noises in my head. 2 minutes of building or painting and they're gone (not really but they seem to fade in the background).
No better cure for me than modelling !

I suffer from that, too, AG! A constant sound like a leaky airhose in my right ear!

I've been hearing that noise for about five years.

I hear less noise then I did before... wife calls it selective hearing... actually I do have hearing aides but I need to have them readjusted as my hearing is getting worse...

I just like building stuff, wouldn't care if it stayed unpainted, the joy for me is seeing a box of parts end up as a complete build.

It's amazing to me how they can take a vehicle of any type and break it down into so many pieces! (And then we hafta stick all that stuff back together!) LoL

I have been collecting model cars for as long as I can remember. The oldest surviving models are my 1962 Galaxy, and Falcon. Both of them are friction models. I started building kits in 1966. At first I just glued them together. Throughout the years I have painted and rebuilt almost all of them. I have my collection on display in my hobby room. I enjoy looking at them, and remembering the past. I have been building model cars for over 50 years!!! I love cars, and I love the hobby! I consider this hobby as a form of art. We are all artists!!! To everyone on this forum, thank you for sharing your beautiful work!!! You are all very talented!!!
