Woo Hoo! I get to break in a new forum...thanks for setting it up, Bucky! A couple month ago, I mentioned developing a growing interest in the hobby of modern board gaming. Many of the games can be quite large, very expensive, and often come with molded miniatures as "game pieces". Sometimes, the publishers will offer fully painted miniatures, but they will command huge price tags and all of them will be painted in a "standard" design...no individuality. Therefore, I've always opted for unpainted figures. In an effort to rejuvenate my creative juices - and give me something to work on during lulls with my regular models - I'm now going to start painting as many of these miniatures as possible. I currently own 5 board games with various types of figures and have 3 more backed on Kickstarter which will arrive over the next year. So, to start, I'm going to paint the miniatures in my retail copy of Sword & Sorcery - a classic "dungeon crawl" where 1 - 5 heroes do battle with the minions of evil in an effort to gain fame and fortune. There are a total of 22 "enemy" figures in the form of orcs, gremlins, raiders, and trolls...those will be painted later. For now, I'll be focusing on the 6 heroes comprised of a human male fighter, a human female sorceress, a male dwarf cleric, a female elf rouge, and a male elf ranger with his wolf companion. When the game arrived, I could see that the figures were just begging to be painted...I just hope I can do them justice. Here are a couple shots of the plain gray heroes and then a final shot of the same figures with a coat of white primer applied: I hope you enjoy the journey with me...until next time...

Thanks, Bucky and Joe.
This game will be my first and will go a long way toward determining if I feel up to painting my Gloomhaven, Mage Knight, and Scythe miniatures. I also have one very cheap D&D game with some minis that could be used for additional testing.
Thanks again!!!

Way to go Robert! I've done a few game miniatures myself. One of the biggest projects I did was for a friend's Starship Troopers game. Check them out: I also did some gladiators and some other ancient Egyptian gods and minions for an ancient Egyptian game. I'll be following along with this one.

Cool looking minis, Mark!!!
One of the board games I backed on Kickstarter is called "Nemesis" and is a big-time homage to "Aliens". The miniatures in it look amazing and since I've elected to buy the unpainted version, rest assured, they will get painted by me at some point.

Brilliant work Robert! Amazing little miniatures. I do love the color on the Dwarf's armor, way to go! Is that a decal on the human fighter's shield? if not, that is some stunning paint work!
Joe, my nephews also play that game. One plays the Imperials, the other the Rebels and they get together and have epic three-day-long battles. They have every ship currently available on both sides.

Thanks for the kind feedback, Everyone!
Mark - I can't take credit for the shield detail. It is simply recessed molding and filled naturally with the black wash I applied. I believe it is meant to be a rose blossom - quite nice detail considering these are just gaming miniatures and not marketed as 28mm models.
Until next time...

I commend you anyway on that rose etching on the shield, your wash went in perfectly. It is a most impressive shield. A;; these figures have really come to life under your brush. I'm taking notes for future miniatures work myself.
