Morning Sit Rep Bogies: DML(left) 19 parts not counting wheels Asuka(Right) 15 parts not counting wheels I found it was easier to assemble the Dragon bogies with more parts than the Asuka, maybe just me so don't let this stop you from buying the Asuka if you desire one, every manufacture has it's pros and cons with any kit ever sold. Note: Don't install part#B14 until you've got the duel spring dampener part#B6 in place. Back to work Tony lee

The side-by-side shows that the Dragon parts are noticeably larger, and that is true of the other parts like the track support rollers as well. They are all slightly overscale. Asuka is pretty much spot-on, and so is Tamiya with their HVSS that debuted in the M51 kit. What isn't apparent here is how easily the Asuka goes together and how precise the fit is. You don't have to finesse the fit with any Asuka kit like you do with Dragon. I have, in fact, assembled an entire hull from Asuka without glue just to test the fit and remarkably it will just about stay together on it's own. Here's what you should do with that Asuka kit, Tony: Give it the sandbag or up-armored treatment. These two pages are scanned from Steven J. Zaloga's "US Tank Battles in Germany 1944-45" by Concord Publications and are reproduced here for discussion purposes only. Notice that some of the sandbagged tanks had it only on the hull and not on the turret. The 14th Armored Division was famous for this sandbag treatment. The second image shows tanks of the 11th Armored Division with additional armor welded to the glacis and turret sides that has been cut from destroyed Shermans Notice that the added armor retains the original lift rings and headlight/siren fittings which appear to be functional. The fit is flush, which means the corresponding fittings on the tank's hull have been cut off and the new plate fitted close enough to the original location so that the wiring could be run through both plates to the lights & siren. The plates on the differential cover are bolted on for easier removal should the diff need to be removed.
