I just pulled the trigger with Sincere Hobby in Hong Kong in the amount of $94.35 for a pre-order of the upcoming HobbyBoss kit #85519: The M911 C-HET 8x6 tractor with M747 trailer. This will actually be my second M911 since I splurged for the resin tractor kit from MiniMan factory a couple of years ago. That one will be the prime mover for the Madill yarder. This one? I don't really know. One thought is a post-Gulf War truck schlepping a beat-up M36, an old warrior being repatriated for restoration and a comfortable future as a gate guardian or museum exhibit.

Well, I didn't get anything for Valentines Day so I don't have to worry about my wife. She wanted something that I'll be getting her on the weekend.
Show a pic of this thing; if it is the one I'm thinking of, I might have it in 1/72 scale.

This is the real beast: The designation C-HET means Commercial Heavy Equipment Transport, and for this combination that means the OshKosh tractor. These were bought in the 1970s when the Army found that the 8-wheel M746 tractor didn't quite meet their needs. That truck was built by Chrysler, and was a close cousin to the FAUN SLT-56. Both were developed as part of the Kampfpanzer 70/ MBT-70 program. Only 125 were built, and while the Army developed specifications for a new HET system the OshKosh M911 was purchased to pull the M747 trailer as an interim vehicle...interim from 1976 until well into the 1990s. The US Army bought 747 tractors and supplied 27 to foreign operators. Other foreign nations bought the M911 on their own, and over 1700 were built for various military forces. I don't know how many civilian rigs were produced, but probably at least as many as the military versions

Ah, okay. No, I don't have that one. Nobody has made that in 1/72 scale yet. For some reason I was reading HEMMT; I have the HEMMT tractor with flatbed trailer in 1/72 scale. Okay, that settles that. I am looking forward to seeing yours done. It is an amazing model when finished.
