USS Melvin, The blue devil

The blue devil nickname was given to this american fletcher class destroyer after some heroic actions against the japanese,
i forget who marketed this kit, it's another large scale and not well detailed which is a pity, at that size of model it could have been much better, i had to add quite a lot of extra detail, i've tryed to set her like she's makeing a hard turn, heeling over and makeing smoke, the smoke is dye'd hampster bedding with a black painted lenght of brass wire to keep the smoke up

Simply amazing!!!!!!Great imagination. Cool bits of scratchbuilding, with the waters and the smoke, etc.!!!!!! Absolutely great!!

Cheer's, this was an odd kit, i think it was aimed at the older kid and ment as a cheap radio controll model, it'd have made a crap r/c ship tho, too narrow a beam, a mate had a 1/96th brit destroyer r/c model and it was always rolling over, even the 1x1's were bad in moderate and heavy sea's, the kit had sod all detail, i had to make all the handrail, chain, ladders etc, you can just make out the "blue devil" decal on the aft stack,
