I heard the same from race team owners...SCCA , IMSA ...every time you pass the car...peel off a couple hundred $ and throw it in the car.

What's the best way to make a million dollars in racing? Start with ten million...
And:
Speed is money. How fast do you want to spend?
My cars aren't projects, but they are German and very fastidious about their maintenance and only being handled by factory-trained technicians. Expensive, but I wouldn't own anything else.

I've been wondering how that bike has been progressing Prof!!! Not bad fella, since that pic was taken she's up together. Needs new tyres, tubes and rim tapes and it will be in decent shape. She's reluctant to start which it shouldn't be and has a slightly ominous rattle from the right cylinder but I have been lucky enough to source a genuine standard bore piston and rings which should resolve that at least. It's far from finished but it's looking pretty tidy.

My project moved from a full race replica to a road bike with a few extras, it was just too costly to proceed. It now has every running bearing and bush replaced, new tyres, brakes and a full service. Some comfort extras, some more cosmetics to do but I’m keeping the original paint and patina, spend so far including bike £1900. Bring on the dry weather so I can ride the bloody thing!
