Something along the lines of the forums original idea... My worry is that it's a 30 tear old kit and the decals might not be good. I do have some liquid decal film so I probably use that since 1/16 front engine top fueler decals are non existent (as far as I know unless someone has a lead on some).

Cliff get some decal sealer and spray the sheet first and allow to dry... then cut real close to the decals and put them on... it will help keep them from splitting or disintergrating.

Another choice would be to get some decal film, and make a copy of the old decals on the new film with a good printer.

Thanks guys! I don't have a good printer so that is out of the question, I've got Microscale Liquid Decal Film so that may work but I haven't heard of a spray, who makes this? Another problem I saw was the chrome is kind of shabby and the wheels for the slicks have knockout marks on the outside rims .

I'd recommend you strip the chrome parts and refinish them. Clorox, Liquid Draino, Brake Fluid, and a few others work for that. There are several methods for re-chroming as well on You Tube. There are also aftermarket Decal Sources out there. Great project.

I've never tried it, but I know some builders spray clear coat on old decals. I think I would try that on some of the decals I wasn't going to use, tho, to see if it would work!

Thanks for the advice folks!
Bruce - I usually use Krud Kutter to strip chrome as it's not toxic but works great.
As for the other chrome, most of the cars back then didn't use a lot, mostly just bare or polished aluminum They believed in the adage "Chrome don't get you home or win you races."
