I'm surprised they left the return rollers off as they are definitely noticeable that they are missing...

Probably because of its roots as a motorised kit, on that they would have been unnecessary.
It's a bit like looking at many of the early Tamiya kits, judging by the amount of motorised offerings they had, it must have been all the rage in the early 70s.

is that the 1/48th kit? looks good so far mate Yes mate, strange kit really, a mixture of plastick is used,hard,soft, very soft. Some great detail but a shame that the return wheels and torsion arms are missing and as has been pointed out yo me it is a re-model of a motorised version so the drive wheel is wrong and the tracks are naff!!

It's all good modelling practice fella, if 1/48 is your thing, Tamiyas offerings are pretty good.
