Here is 1 of 3 scratched 1/72 scale Luft '46 jets borrowed from the Luft '46.com website.

The first one is a Heinkel He P.1078A. It is made of aluminum and brass. A vacuum formed canopy is from Squadron products. The panel lines were scribed with a carbide tip, and the different panel shades were made with changing direction of sand paper and different grits, along with scotchbrite.

Second up is a Messerschmitt Me P.1107/1. It is made of RENfoam, plastic, brass, True Details resin wheels, and Squadron products vacuum formed canopy. It is sprayed with Tamiya acrylics and decals from Cartograf.

I prime and paint just like plastic models.
