My name is Tom Abreu, I live in Lake Orion, Mi.. My background is all automotive- I did bodywork and paint in various prototype shops for about 20 years, then moved on to maching and fabricating. Currently I'm a fabricator in a restoration shop that specializes in Duesenbergs, Packards and other pre-wwII classics. I started building models in the early 60's, and, unlike a lot of my peers, never stopped (except a few years when I was in the Army). Although the old kits can't hold a candle to the newer ones in tems of quality, I still get all warm and fuzzy when I open an old black plastic AMT kit! Because of other obligations, I don't get near as much modeling time as I'd like (I only finished 3 last year), so I decided the solution is to concern myself more with how a model looks sitting on the shelf, rather than sweat the details. That seems to be working, since I've finished 5 so far this year, and number 6 is half done. I tend to not post too much, but enjoy seeing other peoples work- it keeps me fired up to finish my own projects!

Welcome aboard, Tom. Always glad to have a new member join! I have worked in and around the Detroit area. Love it up there...except for the cold winters!!! I worked in the automotive factories around the area. We enjoy a good 'work-in-progress' type thread around here. Gives us insight to the real nitty-gritty of building a model. Also, throw in a couple shots of a finished build and everybody is happy!! HAHAHA
