As a Mercedes-Benz enthusiast I insist you finish it! I could be pedantic and tell you that isn't a factory color for the period, much closer to the Strawberry Metallic that was optional for the 300SL Gullwing in the mid-'50s. But the real owners of these seven-figure cars can paint them any color they want, and so can you. The originals were bespoke machines so your choices for interior are nearly endless: Black as shown on the box art, white, cream, or any shade of brown to golden tan would have been equally possible along with a matching canvas top.
As an aside, as an armor guy I must say that I am flabbergasted at what you car guys can do with gloss finishes. I shy away from them entirely except where I need to place decals.

Some of us civvy builders do a LOT of polishing to get one shiny. (ME) Some lay down a paint job so smooth, they don't hafta touch it. (NOT ME) I'd love to have you join in with a civvy build! And, remember....this is a place where you can take your time, no matter what yer building!

I never polish mine... wouldn't know how if I tried, I spray very light coats until the kit is covered then lay a good wet coat down which brings the shine... then let it sit for days... voila!!! Shiny... this also works with a clear gloss coat...

What clear are you using? Enamels shine fade quick rubbed out or not, and Lacquers fade in time just not as quick as Enamels.
Sorry bout that Pat, all I can say is this MB needs to be fini, get it moving!!!

I don't use a clear most of the time and my enamels haven't faded... the few times I have clear coated was with Gravity Paints clear, or Testors Gloss... tried Future before but wasn't impressed with it...
