Well heres yet one MORE build thats paused, and in Limbo..... Well as we go along and I get to add more and more to the site, I may as well begin another thread....my '67 Dodge Charger, that WAS a "Foose" designed car. not in my hands it won't be! LOL I have this issue... its called love them factory......After-all they are on;y "factory" once! BUT then as we all know, Ma Mopar done done interesting things and put a twist on what seemed auto "reality" every now and again! What I mean is this, at times Chrysler would offer things as "standard", that would be like OK WTH? Make sense? Well here, a for instance, a '69 Dodge Charger. NOT the "500" OR the "R/T", but just the 1969 Dodge Charger, was offered standard, with a 225 Slant 6, can ya believe that!? Its stuff like that, that just gets me and pulls me right in. Those cars in real life un-molested, are worth as much if not more as the 440 and Hemi counter-parts! Just because, they're rare in real life! So, back to my '67 Charger....To my intense Mopar knowledge, and ability to seek out the oddest things at times, (or as it might seem) I found the 444 Hemi. ODD duck, right? RIGHT! It was a Hemi that was known as a 444 "Ball-Stud" Hemi, NO spark plug wires down through the valve covers, and was a bit of a strange duck! BUT, it was never, completely made, just as they went into production, they were pulled, these were to take the place of the whole B/RB line, AND the 426 Hemi offering back in the day. These would have changed things a bit, I do believe, and there were numerous engines, completed, ready to go, destroyed! However 2 of them made it out safely and one still exists! The owner Dick Landy, at the time sold it to John Arruzza, and he put it in I think a '67 Plymouth Cuda....I took a liking to this engine as it was just........different then any other "Wedge-Head" engine or even its brethren "Hemi-Head"....So, I just HAD to build a model of one! As you can see, the engine is a bit of a "mix".... It has a glue bomb block, and Automatic 727 Torqueflite transmission. Oil pan is a new part that I added to it, as well as the intake. BUT, the heads are different! They are in fact Hemi heads, BUT whats to come is the difference! This ISN'T your "normal" "426 Hemi" at all! As you can clearly read on the head is says "404 BS Hemi" This actually means 404 C.I.D. Ball-Stud Hemi. A ONE OF A KIND! There is only one of these in real life made by Ma Mopar! I took it upon myself to set out and master the engine in scale to 1/25th scale! I then got right to painting it up to see how it all look..... Looks really good in all Hemi orange!!!! I'm please with how it looks! I have to say here, that I left ANY and ALL places "detail" was to be added to it, left unpainted, the tops of the heads, the center location on the intake. And the places the pulleys would mount for all the belts! The fuel pump is also left unpainted. (It will be painted AFTER I drill the holes for the fuel lines to it, and from it that go to the carburetor! One thing I noticed was missing from the block, is the oil filter mount..... I'll have to see what I have to add that to it! Stay tuned more to follow! Comments Welcome, ENJOY!

So right back at it, after I went on a hunt through my part bins to see what I may have had for a oil filter mount. Nothing! So that means I'll have to make something to "look" the part, it will be separate from the actual oil filter, itself! I make the filter on my lathe when needed so.... Not to bad looking! A little clean up with a file and then painted to match the block and it will be good to go! Something else I noticed too, the transmission did not have a transmission pan on it either! SO a little piece of sheet styrene does well for this, draw out its shape, clip it down to almost your lines that you draw, leaving it just slightly "wider or bigger then your lines so that you can file it down to shape and your good to go! Looks really good in-place!!! I'll let it be for a bit! -Its getting close to the top side of the engine for details to be added... Stay tuned more to follow! Comments welcome, Thanks for looking, ~ENJOY!

Well, I need to come up with a way to have the correct exhaust manifolds for this engine! (I have a few that are "close" for one side, BUT the other side is a bit more intense and not one model made has this engine in it! SO I thought to use the "matching set" I had and then went against it, due to me trying to "replicate" the real thing.... Having said that, I went right to seeing what I had for materials to work with..... I WAS gonna do solid plastic bar stock filed and cut to shape, BUT thats a lot of cut work and can't be milled out to make it easier, SO I thought, I'd take a thick piece of sheet styrene and go about it the old fashioned way..... Draw out the shape, and add each head opening "finger" and then get a rough cut filed to clean up my "carving" work and see how it goes. WELL, have a look: I found a piece of sheet plastic that was a good start for thickness, and then got to sizing it for the make and then as I drew out the shape onto it, I thought the fingers for the exhaust ports to meet up were slightly "curved" so I added a strip of plastic to the lower edge to make that "curve" in it. -Left shortly to dry, as I checked to see what I had for tools to make all this happen, and come back, and began to draw on the fingers, of the area that would lead to the exhaust ports of the head! The top one in the pic of the real parts is what I had to make here! The bottom one, I have something that I mentioned very close to it..... Trimmed off a little of the "top" to be more close to what I had to come up with for shape... The start of one of the exhaust tubes "fingers"..... Off to the second exhuast tube "Finger", so far, its shaping right up! I am pleased with it so far! The whole part carved out.... WITH the exhaust tubes as they should be, just a little rounding of the edges and it be good to go.... BUT, one more "detail" must be added: The exhaust pipe flange!!!! With all that work, it looks darn NICE!!!! I have to say, VERY pleased I choose to go that route and make the part look like its real self! And not just go the easy way out and use what I had on hand! Sadly, this isn't a part, I can mold, exhaust is difficult and requires special molding abilities, I don't currently have! Stay tuned, more to come after these short messages! Comments welcome as always, ENJOY!

As you see, the black valve covers are in-place. Notice, there is NO plug wires in the center of the valve covers!? ALTHO, it still is a "Hemi".... I got a Carter 4 barrel in-place as well, and fuel line plumbed, with a fuel filter in-place on it as well. The "white" block in the back of the intake is for the intake heat for cold starting, NOT yet painted to match the intake, or have the pipe "risers" coming off the exhaust manifolds on the passenger side. Coming, is the real details! Added the distributor cap....and wires! Placement of the plug wires as per Mopar firing order..... ONLY in place, nothing to stay as I have to trim each one to length, per side.... More to follow stay tuned! Thanks for looking.... Comments welcome!

Heat riser for "winter" starting....I have a damper to add here on that silver pipe, AND a second pipe as well for return as the exhaust hot air was used to "heat" the intake to keep the flow of gas at a decent pace, and when it was warmed and didn't need the intake heated anymore, you could shut the damper and it would stop sending heat to the intake! Interesting how they did that back in the day! -I had to paint the exhaust manifolds after being built and get them in-place BEFORE I could add the heat riser piping, as well as the plug wires.... As I mentioned in a prior posting, this isn't your "regular" Hemi! Heat risers in-place, the intake mount for those pipes painted, and the pipes as well! All looks real good so far! NEXT is to get all those plug wires "tamed" and in-place as well! So then getting all the wires in-place, I had forgot to get the starter wires onto the engine! These were added next! The red wire will lead to the battery, the black one will go to the firewall and be made to look as tho it goes into the dash! You can also see that I got the coil wire sticking up from the center of the Distributor! That detail will come as well! Thats it for now more to come as things happen! Comments welcome! Enjoy!

So now that I've gotten this far on the engine, I seen it was about time I address the detail on the transmission a little, one thing its missing? The Transmission dip-Stick! Passenger side of the engine, and made from scrap wire and then having the "sheathing" painted as per the factory.... Seen here its got a green sheathing, that will change but, was the PERFECT for size, and had a NICE silver "wire" end to be made as the "pull" to pull it out of its tube! Here you see the chrome looking oil dip-stick "pull" as well as all the wire looms in-place for the plug wires! More to follow stay tuned! Comments Welcome....

Now with all this work going on, and the plug wires and Distributor having been in-place on the engine, its time I check "fit" into the body of the '67 Charger!!!!! With a Hemi its always been a problem! Even with the models! Things can get really tight, really quick so continuous checking fitment of the engine is required! Looks good side-to-side! Looks pretty good front ot back! Height of the block looks good, BUT there is NO Air Cleaner on it yet! And that can lead into trouble so...... I went looking to see what I may have had to use for a "Stock" dual Snorkel Air Cleaner (what the real one HAD) so..... All things considered with the size of the engine and the height of it, it looks real good with the air cleaner on it, and fitment seems to look good too (the Charger, will have a "Stock" hood on it so.... NO hood scoops or any of that! And from the looks in the last 2 pics, the hood should close without any issues that may have otherwise held it up from closing all the way! So far, ALL of this I'm pleased with! More to come as I get things done, thats it for now! Comments welcome, ENJOY!

Thanks Keith! I'm a ways off from getting back to this one...... I will be tho, I want to at least get the engine done in "Doomz Day" so that its up to snuff again from where I left on it last BEFORE I decided to go and build a different engine for it!!!!
This one however as you read, has a VERY interesting engine in it. the Hemi that never was. or well only ONE exists of it..... (I have a thing for "odd-ball" stuff like this)....... guess that makes me sort-of an odd-ball too huh? LOL
I'm NOT sure what it will be done in for body color, As I'm also building a '67 Coronet R/T that has thee same engine inti, BUT that one is done as the real thing sits today...... The one seen here, is what that same engine looked like from the factory....

Sort of. unless they used a '66 or '67 Dodge Charger, I THOUGHT "Color Me Gone" was a '64 Dodge Polara? The Charger in the first 2 years of that body style were "Fastbacks" unlike the following years after '67.... '68 was the Coke bottle body with a whole redone body for the new car in '68....

-Yeah BUT...... those were the "Funny Cars" the '67 Dodge Charger I'm using here is a street car, and the Color Me Gone street Car "Pro-Street cars" last I knew was the '64 Polara till they got into the altered wheel base stuff and got fully into the "Funny Car" racing as you pictured here....
I may be wrong.... BUT 3 different types of cars.... Street, Altered Wheel Base and full-on Funny cars...
