Ya’all saw this one posted last week. When I pulled the ‘53 Ford back out for final finishing, I also got this beauty out for build. This kit is complete as shown: Now, you can chime in as to whether this is a mistake but I don’t like the white truck, chromed out with white rims. It comes with chrome rims so I am switching it up. I am painting this a dark gloss blue and using those chrome rims. I also will decide later in the build but this might become MY custom truck. My thoughts right now are to design and print my own decals with the logo of my woodworking biz. (The slanted shed) I will keep posting as the build progresses

I didn't like the white either, dark blue works well for me! Go for it!!!

Woah! Nice trucks! I’m a truck guy, so always looking for the models. Will look for other monsters now! Def like the look of the real truck in white! Thanks for the pics!

I like the idea of painting it dark blue and using your company logo on it. I also agree with Ben, get a second one and built it like intended Either way, I'll be following along on this one.

Bent metal coat hanger in the cab of the truck works well for a holder... rubber gloves keeps the spray off your hands...

I was actually thinking about that the other night Joe. I'm still brushing it though, so as long as I keep my fingers clear, I'm good. Easier to brush in stages when I'm brushing it. Admittedly, I haven't open up the instructions either, so I didn't want to paint too many areas that might need glued later either--ran into that with the Crestline. I was considering getting a sprayer though--maybe start with something that doesn't need a compressor due to cost, space, etc. Any recommendations?

I use these to hold model parts: The one on the right has spring clips to hold smaller parts, while the one on the left has spring tension to hold major parts, such as car bodies. A Google search for Tamiya Paint Stands will bring up several options for purchase.

Those are the stands I use as well, think I paid $12 on a sale...

Oh, I'm not too proud to admit I'm poor. I repurpose EVERYTHING for that reason! I wouldn't say we're destitute, but a good portion of our money goes to other things like doctors, clothes (3 teenage daughters and a wife), etc. So, I try to scrimp and save wherever I can. I'll definitely take a look at this!

That might be good for a starter kit. Harbor Freight also carries inexpensive stuff. After you get situated, you might move to a more refined airbrush setup.

Im having Flashbacks now!!! I must have built 20 of these back in the day.... Monster Trucks is my second passion next to modeling.. I say build it how you want. But the actual truck looked like that. It was white. If it was me i'd build it your way but down the line build one traditionally that looks like the real one Pics for reference, same truck but diff years Sorry for hijacking your post lol Hey snakebite. Going through some paint colors tonight and making an order or just looking at coordinating some models. My wife is helping with my ‘05 corvette but since monster trucks are ur thing, I thought I’d ask: what would you recommend for the engine? The model calls for Chevy orange, but can’t find that. Would you try a fluorescent red (wife said that looked ok) or another color?

Progress tonight! Engine painted and assembled: Body sanded for imperfections and another this coat applied. Also, have joined the axles to the gear boxes, and the springs and transfer case to the frame. Those parts to be painted together tomorrow!
