Mom was worse when I made her mad she threw a high heel shoe at me and as I barely got in my room I heard a loud thump, opened the door to find her heel sticking in the door... I shouted wait till Dad gets home and sees this and bang went the second shoe as I barely got the door shut!!!

Good thing she was a bad aim... Dad refused to fix the door as a visual reminder to us both lol!!! That hole was there until Dad went to sell the house and had to fix it!!!

When I was a kid I never destroyed my models either. I also felt too much pride in finishing them. When I played with them, it was wargames in a vacant lot next door (like Joe's ever-changing diorama) until they built a house on it. Later, when we developed out gaming more; we used table tops with some terrain on them. Otherwise, they sat on shelves or were hanging from the ceiling in epic dogfights as well. I still have almost all my models from childhood; I think twelve or fifteen were broken too badly to be recovered, but some were replaced eventually. Because of this, I have a significant amount of finished models in my Hobby Room. I need a new house with a bigger room....

Funny story Joe . Out of all the hundreds of models I've built I'm down to about 15 built models and the oldest of them is around 5 yrs old .I did a purge on the oldest kits about 6 months ago .

Was it hard to downsize Carl?

Wow Carl, I don't think I could downsize. That would be exceptionally tough for me.
Yeah, I'd love to move but I haven't the funds, income or the credit to do so. Looks like I'm gonna die in this tiny place.

Better pray for a big lotto win off a ticket someone gives you!!! LOL!!! Believe me, I've been praying for a miracle like that for some time. The answer has always been "no". I guess I'm just doomed to stay here and like it. Carl, your son must be thrilled! What a score for him.

Us neighborhood kids would ride our banana seat choppers to the nearby shopping center, where we would buy 1/72 scale Monogram fighters from People's or Woolworth's drug stores. My buddy Keith Tibbets had a window AC unit, and when we built our P-51s and P-40s, we would add vegetable oil to the prop shafts during assembly, and go outside and fly in formation in front of the unit. We had construction of new homes going on nearby, so we would take our 1/72 scale Hasegawa , ESCI and Airfix tanks/vehicles and have awesome battles. When I moved from Hampton to York County, VA, I gave all my stuff to Keith. PS I remember we would bring our instructions to school and ogle over them and could not wait for the 3:30 bell.
